FIGHT FOR THE CHILDREN COMPETITION 2008

Design approach
The essence of this scheme is a simple set of buildings arranged around a single large courtyard accessible to all from which smaller more intimate courtyards emanate. The layout is direct and user friendly &
provides quite pleasant atmosphere & tempered climate conditions. We propose a program that is well considered & can easily grow in future using local conditions & manufacturing crafts alike. Buildings can
be added in a myriad of way whilst retaining highly intimate qualities. The clinic is protected by a tall perimeter wall, nevertheless a number of eye catching wind towers serve as a focal point or reference in
its surrounding. Inviting the community to participate in a cooperative space is part of our sustainable development approach as well as reducing dependency & use of fossil fuelled energy and large wasteful
consumption of water. Water will be stored & reused to provide passive cooling and irrigation.

The design team is a strong group of friends sharing a common passion & trade, while relaying on firsthand experience in the fields of designs, education, manufacturing and voluntary aid work. We live
and work on different continents and bring together a collaborative resource & wealth of knowledge to freely share with others.
We believe this program will benefit its’ future users and serve as an exemplar project for sustainable
development in Africa.
